Not A Soccer Story

A multi-platform IP developed as either a standalone or serialized “youth club sports” media venture.

Storyline:

Gwen and Fiona are best friends playing on a club team that will win, lose, whine, cry, scream and manipulate together until they turn 18.

But Gwen isn’t a starter. She’s not a star. She’s not fast or big.

The parents of her teammates – as dark fate is bound to make happen – are a perfect storm of the most maniacal, overdriven youth sports parents ever assembled. They have no boundaries. They have no shame. And they exist in every youth club sport in our nation.

Gwen knows, from painful experience, that in the eyes of the wingnut adults she’s just an extra in their own child’s glorious story.

“You see,” Cristiano spoke, his words lilting in the air like a Mediterranean love song in which women are treated like objects, “to play The Beautiful Game the way it’s supposed to be played, there has to be passion, and anger, and fury, then some more fury, and nothing can stand in the way of the fury.”
